Center of Excellence Phase II

The City of Henderson seeks $19.9 million to plan and construct a 20,000 square foot training facility designed to provide state-of-the-art training that mirrors workplace conditions across the manufacturing and supporting sectors. With instruction through the College of Southern Nevada (CSN), another coalition member with a component project, and curriculum developed in collaboration with industry leaders such as Haas Automation, the Center will support goals identified by the regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). The Center of Excellence aims to successfully train 200-300 students annually to meet the demands of the growing general and advanced manufacturing industry sectors. Outcomes include improved economic resiliency, amplified skills training and much needed industry diversification. By reskilling Southern Nevada's service-based workforce, the Center will deliver increased opportunity access for disconnected workers, resulting in growth in high-skill, high-wage sectors that complement Henderson's existing business predominance. By intentionally connecting underserved workforce members to once aspirational job opportunities, we can transform the lives of individuals and families in the region.
